Crooked Table Podcast: Episode 1 – The Fandom Menace

Most podcasts would settle on a frequency and episode length upfront, but that just wouldn’t be the Crooked Table way. After launching with the raw version of the show with Episode 0, the first true installment of the Crooked Table Podcast sees Robert Yaniz Jr. and Freddy Yaniz get their geek on with some of the summer’s biggest box office hits. This double-length special edition episode includes reviews of Matt Reeves’ Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Jonathan Liebesman’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot. Reviews of all three can be found here.

We’re excited to hear your feedback as the show continues to evolve. As usual, the podcast does feature explicit language and, as such, is best considered NSFW.

Thanks for listening!

  1. The podcast was very informative and much better than Episode 0. Freddy and Rob have a fun rapport, and it was cool to listen to the brothers debate about movies. Both have different perspectives that made it more fun to listen to than if the perspective was the same.
Rob is the industry expert, which brings the knowledge aspect to the table in comparision to just liking to watch films.
As much as I love listening to the opinions on the summer’s top films, my opinion is that the film segments could have been shorter. Even though all the movie points were interesting, 30 minutes and more on each movie was a bit extensive. A maximum of 20 minutes a piece should have been the goal.
I love the intro/outro song. It is fitting for the podcast subject matter.
