Review: ‘The Good Dinosaur’

Twenty years ago, Pixar Animation Studios changed the world of animated films forever with the release of the instantly classic Toy Story. Featuring the imagination, heart and sharp wit the studio is now famous for, that film introduced moviegoers to a pair of iconic characters in cowboy Woody and Buzz Lightyear, chronicling how the two playthings’ relationship evolved from a competition into an unshakeable bond that is due to hit theaters once more in the announced 2018 release Toy Story 4. So Pixar isn’t exactly operating outside its comfort zone with the unlikely friendship at the center of The Good Dinosaur.

Review: ‘The Night Before’ Brings Heart to Stoner Comedies

In that immortal classic A Charlie Brown Christmas (read my The Peanuts Movie, by the way), the title character struggles with the commercialization of the holiday season. That sentiment has only gotten more and more prevalent in today’s world of peppermint mocha lattes and stores decked their halls with decorations in October. Still, the advantage to the world’s overwhelming desire to cash in on the widespread love of all things Christmas is that there is literally something out there for all every kind of moviegoer. Just catch the next screening of The Night Before at your local theater.

Review: ‘Love the Coopers’ Is Exactly What It Looks Like

Sometimes when you hit the theater, you know pretty much exactly what you’re going to get. Such is the case with Love the Coopers, the new holiday comedy from director Jessie Nelson. Centering on the many branches of the Cooper family tree, the film features an ensemble cast ostensibly led by Diane Keaton and John Goodman as they scurry together for a holiday dinner together. Hilarity ensues.
